1. Un maestro de cocina siempre se ayuda de su pinche. (pinche como ayudante de cocina)
2. Mira él ya trae un pinche para ayudarle en el taller. (pinche también es ayudante en general)
3. ¡Ese pinche perro me mordió ayer! (en este caso se usa para insultar).
4. Mira, ahí va mi pinche compadre. Este pinche wey es un cabrón. (en este caso se usa de forma afectiva pero sólo usalo en los circulos más cercanos)

Concuerdo con Alberto pero curiosamente le faltó el significado más neutral de la palabra, "pinche" como "elemento puntiagudo filoso", ejemplo:
Puse una reja con pinches arriba en el frente de mi casa porque vivo en un barrio inseguro.

Es curioso: en Cuba un objeto puntiagudo es “un pincho” (y se le puede llamar así a una persona muy esbelta), aunque en México se utiliza mayormente como los puntos 3 y 4 que menciona Alberto.
¿Entonces en la Argentina se puede entender también como un insulto?
Estuve en América del Sur hace muchos años y era clarísimo que era un mexicanismo.

@ropolso No no se usa como insulto por aquí, solo como "elemento puntiagudo" como mencioné antes; y ahora que lo mencionas, es verdad que la palabra neutral para esto es "pincho" (como figura en la RAE) y no "pinche", error mío ^^'
